SKA Open Day 2016, Sunday 26th June

Southbury Leisure Centre

The SKA Open Day 2016 will be on Sunday, 26th June, running from noon until 5pm. The course is suitable for beginners through to black belts. Students will be taught in small groups according to grade. This is your chance to train with the Association's senior instructors. Don't miss this course, it promises to be a fantastic day!

ALL BLACK AND BROWN BELTS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND

Open Day 2015
SESSION 1: 12 noon - 1.30pm KUMITE
Students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge of kumite and learn new techniques taught in small groups according to grade.
SESSION 2: 2pm - 3.30pm KUMITE
The object of this session is for students to learn the next kata in their syllabus. The emphasis will be on learning the moves and applications of katas.
SESSION 3: 3.45pm - 5pm PRESENTATIONS AND DEMONSTRATIONS
Demonstrations, to include Junior team kata, Adult team kata, advanced kumite, individual kata, multiple self defence, knife self defend, ladies' self defence, kata with applications, demonstrations of martial arts weapons. This will be followed by presentation of Dan grade certificates.

SKA Brown and Black Belt Kata Course, Sunday 15th May 2016 - attendees

The SKA kata and kumite course for brown and black belts took place on Sunday 15th May, attended by karateka from clubs across the association. Brown belts learned the kata Hangetsu, while black belts had the choice of Nijushiho or Gankaku Sho. This was followed by some tuition on the use of kicks in jiyu-kumite from Sensei Durant.

SKA fundraising for the Alzheimers Society 2015

Sensei Claire Royston
SKA instructor, Claire Royston, will be attempting to run from London to Brighton (100km) on 23/24 May 2015 to raise money for the Alzheimers Society (http://www.alzheimers.org.uk/). The London 2 Brighton Challenge (http://www.london2brightonchallenge.com/) is one of the UK's great endurance events. Claire has asked us if we could also support her and raise some money for this worthwhile cause.
